What Is a Sacred Space?

A sacred space is a place that you set up where the energy is peaceful, healing, and calming. A sacred space can be in your home, the corner of a room, or even your office.

This place is your sanctuary. It’s a spot filled with things to ground you, heal you, bring you pleasure, allow your creativity to flow, connect you to your higher power, and to support you.

Why Should You Set Up a Sacred Space?

Empaths need a sacred space… Let me say that again, empaths NEED a sacred space. Being so sensitive, a sacred space helps us keep our energy grounded and provides us a place to clear our mind and spirit. It’s a spot where we set the energy to fit our needs instead of having to adjust our energy to fit it. It supports your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being and I view the sacred space as a form of self care.

How To Set Up A Sacred Space

Step One: Decide On The Location

I have two places I consider my sacred space, my office and my bedroom. However, when I worked at a call center I made my desk a sacred space and boy did it help this sensitive empath out.

Your sacred space could be anywhere. It could be your desk at work, it could be your car, it could be a corner of your living room, next to your window… you decide.

Step Two: Cleanse the Energy

Cleanse the energy of your space. You will need to do this regularly to make sure that it stays clear of lower vibrational energy. Here is a blog on how to cleanse the energy if you don’t know how.

Step Three: Bring In Items That Boost Your Mood & Spirit

This is your special spot. You want to consider what you will use it for and add items that support that. From time to time you’ll need to revisit the set up and change it. If you would like to put up an alter, it would be a great addition. Here are some ideas:

  • Crystals
  • Religious or spiritual items that make you feel close to your higher power
  • Plants
  • Photos of loved ones
  • Candles
  • Salt Lamps
  • Stained Glass Lamps
  • Paintings
  • Your journal
  • Relaxing music or a noise machine
  • Tapestries
  • Incense
  • Essential oils
  • Notes from loved ones
  • Fountain

Step Four: Use Your Sacred Space

Now that your sacred space is set up it’s time to bask in the energy and use it how ever your heart desires. You can use it for meditation, healing rituals, a place to pray, a place to create, a place to deal with anxiety or stress, a place to ground, and anything else you can think of.
